Staff Profile #2: Les Jupes
There’s two members of our lovely staff in this video. Can you spot them???
From Jazz Winnipeg -
Les Jupes are a new band from the centre of Canada versed in expansive musical landscapes, sharp lyrics, and an observer’s eye for the world. They are four Anglos with a French name making big, broad, and determined music. And they are at the centre of a prairie renaissance growing around Head in the Sand Records.

Our friends at the Reykjavik Downtown Hostel do cool things!
We are proud to present Low Roar on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011. The show will begin at 20:00.
As always, this is a free show. Arrive early as space is very limited and the lobby is sure to fill up quickly. The Reykjavík Downtown Hostel is located at Vesturgata 17 in 101 Reykjavík.
We will upload videos from this performance after the show.
25 photos have been submitted and we only have five days left until the contest closes. Remember, it’s the 10 best rated photos that get sent to the team in Iceland for voting. We in Manitoba have NO way of determining who wins. So, the write-ups of each photo play an integral part in the structure of the contest. The inspiring photo will take this contest. It’s genius!
I’d like to take this moment…again…to thank everyone who has entered. It’s great to see many photos from around the Manitoba and hopefully this will entice everyone to travel around Manitoba. There are many, many, many amazing locals that we take for granted and there’s no better time than the present to see them.
We will be announcing the winner on June 17th at the hostel while we celebrate Icelandic National Day.

Wow people! We have reached 19 photographs entered into the contest. A lot of people are starting to take note of this contest and I guess, it really is “Manitoba Time!”
We have another two weeks before the end of the contest and want to expand the vast array of photographs that we have already taken in. Lets make the job of the judges just that much more difficult. We have started to plan out the celebrations here at the hostel in the one and only Lo Pub for June 17th @ 6pm. Save the date, come down and celebrate! It should be a grand ol’ time.

We now have 14 photographs of Manitoba and are well on our way to hitting 20. If you haven’t already, it’s time for you to post your best photo of Manitoba. As I mentioned on a previous post, it’s been great to read the explanations of all the photographs. Once more, it’s been great to see photographs representing all the many regions of our province.
Planning is underway for the awards ceremony and Icelandic National Day celebration here at the hostel. June 17, 2011 @ 6pm will be when we announce our winner. I’ve heard that the judging panel in Iceland is coming together and may have some very noteworthy people included on it.
So get out there and show us your best, we have an international audience viewing Manitoba’s unique landscape. Don’t let the weather be an excuse!

Wow! What a week it was. We now have a total of 11 photographs entered into the Manitoba Photo Contest and there’s still another 4 weeks until the competition closes. The best part about this contest, for me is not even the photos. It’s the experience and description given of the photo that gives it meaning and depth. Great job to those who have entered thus far and I can’t wait for even more to be entered!

Remember, you too can enter the contest! Read the contest guidelines for more.
We worked out some of the kinks to make the pages more inviting and easier to understand for those who want to enter the contest. At this point, we may not have one photograph entered (wait for it…)but, a small number of you (13 to be exact) have “liked” our page. At the onset, we knew that it may be difficult to transform interest into action. The prizes are quite immense and all you have to do is be a member and upload a photograph of Manitoba. It’s that simple.
